Holy Shit! I bought a horse
So, um, yeah, we bought a horse on Saturday. She's a four year old, bay mare. Green broke. Thoroughbred. Her registered name is Majestic Jet. We changed her barn name to Maia. Pictures under the cut.

Turning is a skill she hasn't quite mastered yet.

She's 16.1 and such a dark bay, but she'll grow a little bit more and fill out a lot.

She is, however, quite willing. She'd never even seen a jump before Saturday, and she took it in stride. Literally, as she simply trotted over the cavaletti. But hey, it's a start!

She's 16.1 but she should finish a little taller. And yes, she's definitely underweight right now. They've had her for almost two years, and she's only been ridden around half a dozen times. That's crazy for a thoroughbred. They get skinnier the less they work.
Am has a feeding regimen worked up for her. It includes a lot of sweet feed, some high fat/high fibre, and something called Ultimate Finish that may just bankrupt me. As if the purchase of a horse didn't do that already.

But it should be fun. And she has a lovely name!

Mike says I'm not to let word drop to my girls what you've done or I'm doomed for sure. I don't know. I still have my old tack box with lots of gear AND my old saddle to boot!
