they say it's your birthday
Well happy birthday to ya!
For my dear birthday celebrating friendaithine who likely thinks I have been eaten by polar bears here in the great white north
"What are you doing, McKay?" John put his magazine down as Rodney bustled into the bedroom.
Rodney moved a pile of black t-shirts off the nightstand. Then he rolled the desk chair back so he could stick his head under the desk. He came up brushing imaginary dust out of his hair and started reaching for the Johnny Cash poster on the wall.
John grabbed Rodney by the wrist before he could knock the poster down ... again. "No, really, what are you doing?"
"If you must know, I'm trying to put together a little something foraithine. It's her birthday."
"Rodney," John scratched the back of his neck. "You know she's sorta moved on, right?"
"Hmmm?" Rodney looked behind John's pillows. And, coincidentally, John. "Moved on?"
John stood up and stretched. Days off were good and all, but a guy could get tired of too much sitting around. "Yeah, new fandoms. Primeval? Sherlock? Ha-"
"HA!" Rodney jumped toward the surf board propped in the corner. "I should have expected it to be here." John leaned forward, hoping for a peek of whatever Rodney had cuddled in his arms. "And yes, to answer your question, I do remember the other fandoms. And you will note that the dinosaurs were a flash in the pan, and I maintain that she is merely drawn to geniuses that have sidekicks named John."
"If you're so sure, what's all the fuss about?"
Rodney turned, brandishing his find. "I just want to remind her that we had pineapples and surfboards first."
