My creative is drowning ...

under a load of work.
So, I'm committed to providing full time safety coverage for two projects right now. And then there are at least six other projects that I'm supposed to be checking on and auditing and stuff. My sister, my partner in crime and business (not that the two are mutually exclusive), is handling another project, for another company, that we have. She was supposed to be finished earlier this week, but, alas, she was not. In fact, I got a call from her tonight, after I came home from work (sorta), and lo, more problems on that site. What does this mean? It means another hour of work after the eight hours I'd already done today. Oh, and I still have another hour to do later. *headdesk*
Thus, there are simply not enough hours in the day to do what I have to do. I am managing to eat, sleep and work. Laundry is something that is taking over the closets of my house. Cooking is something that other people do, I order take out. The kids, of course, are thrilled. I'm ready to eat something that doesn't come out of a greasy box.
But why is my creative drowning, you ask? Well, because I keep having all these great ideas for the stories I'm working on. But then work and its demands wash over the ideas. I end up with soggy ideas scribbled on bits of paper and no energy to write them. I wanna write, dammit!!!!!!!!!!! I haven't had this many creative impulses in months. Damn, all those folks who claimed I thrive on stress might be right. Nah, that'd be silly. *g*
As a service to myself, and to have a record whereby those of you who care (and yes, I mean you) can nudge and generally harrass me to get these damn things written, I am making a little list of the somewhat waterlogged ideas. I'm putting it behind a cut since I feel I should make you work for it. If you like any of these ideas, feel free to nag me ... in about a week.
1. That Sr. Pete/McManus thing I started. It was supposed to be crack!fic, but now ... not so much. This one might need a life preserver.
2. That prompt from
blade_girl. Well, to be fair, I have a lot written. And I have a lot planned out. I just need to finish it. Hmmm, maybe this weekend?
3. Something Keller-centric. I actually wanted a Keller-muse? What was I thinking? Can somebody get the sexy sociopath out of my head?
4. That huge due South AU that I plotted out to
aithine oh those many months ago. My Ray muse is back. And he wants to play. I think the Keller muse is encouraging him.
5. That request I still owe to
mybagoftrix. I have guilt and despair ... no really, I do.
6. I'm sure there are more, but I'm tired right now and I forget.
That is all.

Date: 2006-11-09 02:50 am (UTC)I am so sorry that you are having to work so much and aren't writing when you really, really want to. I can't help you out with most of it, but the one that you owe me? We'll just have to take that one out in trade or something ;)!!

Date: 2006-11-09 06:06 am (UTC)And I warned you about KellerBrain. That is truly evil. Truly. (By the way, McManus hasn't sexed him up yet, might be something worth pursuing - just continuing with my endless quest to see Timmy-boy slashed with everybody in Oz)
Ah, if we all could be independently wealthy & have time to procrastin-er-write, I meant write. Really I did.
Hope things slow down for you soon.

Date: 2006-11-10 04:03 am (UTC)KellerBrain now wants a serving of McManus, with a side order of Toby, just cuz. And is it wrong that I think it would be totally hot to see McManus overwhelmed by all that is Keller?
And on the OMG GOOD NEWS front ... my sister will be done the other contract this week!!!!!!!!!!!!!111111111!!!! This means I can go back to doing the job of two people, not four.

Date: 2006-11-10 05:20 am (UTC)It's good to know that no one was harmed in the hashing out of plot details. You can use the life preserver or I can slide over an anvil if you want to hit somebody over the head with it.
I think you're underestimating my boy McManus. He might come really close to holding his own with Keller. Ooh and Toby too - is it a three-way or just a bit of voyeurism? (I so need a life)
